For the month of January, the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club kids will be collecting coupons as part of the Troopon project, which helps military personnel save money on groceries.
The “Support Our Troops – Troopon” project collects manufacturers’ coupons for food, baby, pet and housewares, and sends them to military bases both domestically and abroad, so that military families can save money and stretch their hard-earned paychecks further.
Shopping abroad can be especially tough for military families, because currency exchange rates don’t always benefit them, meaning their earnings may not go as far as they would at home. For example, off base, a military family’s dollar is only .65 in England and only .72 in Germany.
“Community service is one of the most important lessons we can instill in our Club kids. In fact, every single Club kids completes at least one community service project each month,” said BGC Executive Director Alexis Eggleton. “This project allows them to collect, sort and donate to help the active military personnel who keep them safe each day.”
If you would like to donate non-expired manufacturers’ coupons for the Troopon project, please feel free to drop them off at any of the Clubs in the Town of Wallkill, Pine Bush or Sullivan County or you can mail them to us at PO Box 14, Circleville, NY 10919.
