BOYS & GIRLS CLUB KIDS RAISE MONEY TO HELP FIGHT CANCER

Pine Bush Boys and Girls Club kids raised more than $1200 to support the Pine Bush Relay for Life event on June 9, 2013.

Club kids hosted a costume party at program, ran a pancake breakfast at the Pine Bush United Methodist Church, held a Bake Sale outside of the True Value Hardware store, made and sold key chains, and raffled off a blanket which was handmade by Club Mom Sallie Soltysiak.  At the Relay event, they took turns walking laps and raised even more money through a bean bag toss, fishing for ducks and a “Soak the Counselor” water balloon game with materials donated by Seekamp Lumber.

Prior to launching this year’s fund raiser, Club kids learned about how cancer affects over 11.7 million children and families in the United States.

Katrina Apelles, Program Leader said “We talked to the Club kids about the American Cancer Society’s fight to make a world with less cancer and more birthdays.  They took over from there and I am so proud of their enthusiasm and hard work for this year’s event.”
