Kaplan Foundation Awards Boys & Girls Clubs with $5000 Grant for Education & Arts Programming

The Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club is pleased to announce it has been selected to receive a $5,000 grant from the Lazare and Charlotte Kaplan Foundation.

“We are especially proud to support the programs of the Boys and Girls Club,” said Foundation Board member Gary Siegel. “The Culture Grant furthers the Foundation’s mission to ‘help to keep the kids off the streets’ by providing them with positive activities to participate in.”

The funding will be used to provide cultural and fine arts field trips for Boys and Girls Clubs kids in the Town of Rockland. These field trips and programs will be tied to Club kids completing quarterly research projects and oral presentations designed to help them learn about nature, theatre, history and science opportunities that would not otherwise be available in their communities.

On the award, BGC Executive Director Alexis Eggleton said, “Far too many Club kids have never been to a Yankee game, a museum or the theater. We are delighted to receive this generous award that will help us to expose more disadvantaged youth to opportunities beyond their current surroundings.”

The Foundation was established by diamond cutter Lazare Kaplan and his wife Charlotte of Lew Beech, NY. The couple chose to endow their estate to support programs and college scholarships for Sullivan County youth.
