More than 400 people gathered for the 3rd Annual Orange County Celebrity Dinner to benefit the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Clubs, and raised more than $45,000 to support the Clubs’ efforts here in Orange County, making it the largest event in Club history!
Orange County Trust Vice President Tim McCausland stated “The Boys and Girls Club Celebrity Dinner can be summed up in three words: fun, fun, fun! To support a cause so worthy AND to have that good a time doing it makes it very easy for the Orange County Trust team to pitch in. We have already started thinking about a theme for next year!”
This year’s theme was “Music From Your Youth,” and Honorary Event Chairman Paul B. Halpern led the evening as thirteen teams of “Celebrity Servers” sang, danced and entertained their guests in the hopes of winning the Tip Challenge trophy.
Halpern said, “As Chairman of this event, I had the privilege to work with some of the most dedicated and talented community volunteers and BGC staffers you could ever find anywhere. This was a perfect example of the old saying, ‘It takes a village.’ Well our ‘village’ really stepped up for the kids who are most need of our support. I am so proud to have been a part of such a great effort.”
Each team, decked out in the costumes of their favorite artist or group, was brought in through a gold lame archway to a theme song of their own choosing. From there, they “Vogued”, “Hand Jived,” and did the “Harlem Shake” to compete for tips!
Orange Regional Medical Center’s Board Chairman Rolland Peacock, along with CEO Scott Batulis and VP Jerry Duleavy, were a crowd favorite channeling “The Beach Boys” – surf board and all! The four teams from ORMC combined to raise more than $9,300 during the event.
Peacock said, “The Celebrity Dinner and Tip Challenge was a fun-filled event and Orange Regional Medical Center was happy to be part of such a worthwhile cause.”
At the final countdown, it looked like Team “Madonna,” made up of Hon. Melissa Bonacic, Jessica Gardner, Lisa Kelly and Suzanne Forni, were going to reign victorious with $5,912 in tips, but Team “Milli Vanilli,” portrayed by Patrick English and Frank Fini prevailed, raising a staggering $6,081!
