After School Program

Monticello High School

Monticello Central School District

Our program at the Monticello High School is one of the most unique programs the Clubs operate. It is a partner program with the Monticello High School.

The program operates four days per week (Monday – Thursday), and three days per week the Club teens have a snack, an academic tutoring session, and then engage in project-based learning on topics that change every six weeks. Examples of project-based learning opportunities include: Poetry Slam, Intro to Geocaching, Money Matters and “Keystone Club,” the community service program for teens through Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Club teens who participate in at least 75% of the academic tutoring sessions and project-based learning opportunities each month are eligible for a free field trip. In October 2012, that field trip was the see the NY Jets take on the Miami Dolphins. In the past year, they’ve been to a Yankees Game, The 9/11 Memorial Museum, Madame Tussauds Wax Musuem, countless college trips, and a variety of other places that may otherwise be inaccessible for our Club Kids without this program!

Thanks to the New York State Department of Education grant, this program and the field trips are completely free to Club teens from the Monticello Central School District who qualify.

Safety for our Club kids is the highest priority for our organization.

All staff members undergo annual criminal background checks and all Program Staff also undergo annual fingerprint clearance from New York State, are CPR and First Aid-certified, and receive a minimum of 15 hours of youth development training annually.

Monticello SES Tutoring Programs

The Monticello Tutoring Program has been in effect since 2011.  This program has enabled our Club Kids to discuss school work and assignments with teachers, during after school hours!  Thanks to Monticello Central School District, we have seen academic growth in nearly every child who has participated in the tutoring program!  Working hand-in-hand with their teachers has enabled our Club Kids to get a better grasp on these lessons and materials!
